About

shiftVR was contracted to develop a Parkinson’s Virtual Reality application for MDDT Inc. A medical research company that focuses on the rehabilitation of  people with Parkinson’s disease. These patients have a disorder known as freezing of gait (freezing of motion). Freezing of gait occurs most often when patients are performing high-risk or high anxiety tasks.

MDDT contracted shiftVR to build life-like environments of high-risk and high anxiety tasks in order to determine if freezing of gait can be decreased in patients. The scenarios included crossing a street, performing tasks in a kitchen, and choosing items at a public grocer. The goal of the study is to analyze patients over a period of time performing these tasks in a virtual environment and determine if the rehabilitation program can improve these same tasks in real-life.
