18 Feb / Facebook is Working on Virtual Reality Apps

Facebook has made some big bets on virtual reality, specifically a $2 Billion dollar one last March with the purchase of Palmer Luckey’s Oculus Rift. Now that they have the platform they are starting to build the “killer” apps for it.

According to Chris Cox, the company’s head of product, “We’re working on apps for VR,” he said. Cox didn’t describe the apps in detail, but imagined a world where users will be able to share their current environment with other users using an app. He imagined that it could become an everyday way of sharing. “You’ll do it. Beyoncé will do it,” he said

Facebook is driving virtual reality forward and are starting to think of the things people will do after unboxing the consumer version of their Oculus Rift in the future.
